"fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair."
- karl lagerfeld
i recently hunted this down and watched it after being exposed to all the buzz around audrey tatou and coco before chanel. it is a day (365 x 3 it actually ended up taking) in the life of karl - up close and very personal. the designer divulges details of his relationship with his mother, his creative process and why there really is no need for forgiveness. at one point, the audience is even taken skincare shopping!! he speaks about celebrities and their relationship with fashion and also the intricacy of balancing dreams with business in our times. as a film, it is funny and engaging because the footage feels real and unscripted - he is forthcoming with every prompt of the interviewer. i could watch it 10 times!! irresistible!! available from hmv for hkd199.
